Show de Netinho
A gente também cantou canções que nós reconhecimos do ónibus como “Tchau I Have to Go Now,” “A Fila Andou,” e “Beijar na Boca.” No fim nós estavamos bem cansados, mas valeu a pena!
On Thursday, many of us went to the show (or balada) of a Bahian singer named Netinho in Porto Seguro. Everyone danced on the beach while enjoying the Brazilian rythms and the sound of the waves. We also sang “Tchau I Have to Go Now,” “A Fila Andou,” e “Beijar na Boca,” songs that we recognized from the bus. At the end of the show, we were all very tired. But it was worth it!
TRANCOSO : durante o dia
Today we visited the beautiful beach of Trancoso, in the district of Porto Seguro, Bahia. It was almost deserted when we arrived, and all the exchange students made our way down the beautiful beach to stop at a beachside club. We all enjoyed ourselves on the beach, swimming in the clear blue water and sunning ourselves on the sand. Many Baians were selling their artisan crafts (necklaces , earrings and clothes) on the beach dressed in traditional garb, and more than one of us walked away marked both by henna tattoos and sunburns. I know that I myself was redder than the caju fruit I ate for breakfast, and I still haven’t recovered. After the beach, we headed to the Praca do Quadrado, a famous market for hippie crafts.
DIA LIVRE
Thanks to a fun-filled night at the balada, the majority of the exchange students only managed to drudge up enough energy to drag themselves out of bed, stuff some fruit down their hoarse throats and to crawl right back. A few early risers made their way down to the town to check out the tourist stops and to sample the local acai (typical Amazonian fruit). After some lunch and more acai, the rest of the group split up to go to the beach and to shop. The rest of the day was spent relaxing, and after a group dinner, all of us enjoyed the local night scene, getting coffee and, of course, more delicious acai.

PORTO SEGURO
If we all considered our free day a nice sample of the relaxing Bahian life, our visit to Porto Seguro was a definite change. We all woke up early and slept through the hour long car ride to the historic town center. After picking up a local guide, we watched a capoeira group perform the Brazilian acrobatic martial art, and some of us even got to be a part of the show! Afterwards, we all made the walk to visit the oldest church in Brazil and to see the spot where Cabral first landed in Brazil. Taking in the beautiful view, we broadened our palettes and tried aracajé, a shrimp and okra rice snack, and drank delicious cool water straight out of coconuts. From there we drove to the Coroa Vermelha Beach to see the Pataxos Indians, who are descended from the Indians who were present when Cabral landed. More than one of us walked away with armfuls of beaded jewelry and pictures with the Paxotos. Leaving the history behind, we traveled to the modern Brazilian’s paradise, Axe Moi, where we got to dance to Axe, the regional upbeat music. Finally, we dragged our tired bodies back to the bus and slept the whole ride home, tired but happy after an eventful couple of days in Arraial d’Ajuda.

Today, on the 12th of January,
We wake up!! Today was a day that was very very fun but also at the same time very tiresome. We did a city tour which included dressing in traditional carnival costumes. After this, we headed to Maracana, one of the largest football stadiums in the world. After this, we headed to the shopping mall to get some lunch. After this, we visited a natural forest, and shortlythereafter, went to the hard rock café. Immediately after this, we ascended the Sugar Loaf Mountain. We went to eat at the same restaurant and went to bed immediately upon our arrival.
Todos no campo do Maracana
Pose para muitas fotos, visual fantastico.

Today, on the 13th of January,
We woke up at around 7 oclock to head out to the beach at 8. We stayed at Ipanema until 1 oclock in the afternoon. After taking showers and changing clothes, we went to Christ the Redeemer. It was extremely big and impressive. After this, we ate at the same restaurant again. Finally, we went to dance lessons and learned some Samba and Funk. It was very fun, everyone dancing, trying to dance as the professionals were. We got back to the hotel, knowing we would have to wake up at 4:30 in the morning.
